Mocha's Story
Meet Mocha!

Breed: Shepherd Mix
Weight: 60 lbs
Sex: Female (Spayed)
Crate Trained: Yes (goes in happily with a dentastick)

Personality & Story:
Mocha was surrendered into rescue care at a young age and is now looking for a stable, loving home where she can truly settle in and thrive. She is a very sweet, submissive, and affectionate girl who forms strong bonds with her people. She’s friendly with both men and women and settles nicely once she feels comfortable.
While she can be unsure at first—sometimes greeting new people at the door with barking or a brief growl—she decompresses quickly and shows her gentle nature within minutes.

Energy & Needs:
Mocha is a higher-energy dog who thrives with regular walks and mental stimulation. She can be vocal in the mornings and may bark at people passing by, so she will benefit from structure and consistent routines to help manage her excitement. Incorporating enrichment like scent work and food-based games (such as scattering kibble in the yard) helps burn off energy and keeps her mentally satisfied.

Training & Behaviour:
- House trained and crate trained
- Walks very well on a loose leash
- Takes correction and redirection well
- Can become overly focused on people or surroundings but responds well to guidance

Compatibility:
Cats: Good
Dogs: No (prefers to be the only pet)
Men & Women: Friendly with both
Children: Would recommend older, dog-savvy children due to her size and energy

Ideal Forever Home:
Mocha would do best with an experienced dog owner, particularly someone familiar with larger breeds. She needs a home that can provide structure, consistent training, and both physical and mental exercise.

A quieter home with clear boundaries will help her continue to build confidence and reduce her reactivity at the door and toward passersby. With the right guidance, Mocha is an incredibly loving and loyal companion who will thrive in a home that understands her needs and energy.

Fostered in Sarnia, ON
