Missy's Story
Missy is an 80lb bundle of energy even at 5 years young she is a gorgeous, strong bulldog with typical bulldog sass. She will need an experienced bulldog owner. Even though she is house and crate trained she still needs structured, training on manners and boundaries. She is very rough during play, and mouthy which needs to be redirected respectfully. Her perfect forever home will be an energetic one with time for leash training, basic obedience, and firm but positive redirection for unwanted behavior. She does sit on command and will abide by the "WAIT" command, prior to eating, if given appropriately. She is food reactive so no small children please who will not respect her space during meals or toddling around with food in hands. Also she would knock down and trample a toddler. I gotta say, she recalls pretty well and LOVES car rides, but is terrible on a leash. This is where obedience training will be much needed and she needs to learn respect and boundaries as she has been allowed to misbehave in the past and can get a bit naughty when she doesn't get her way. She will get into stuff and definitely needs a crate when you are away but she loves her crate and as long as she has some sort of enrichment toy, chewy, frozen stuffed kong, or hard beef bone, that will sustain her for a bit till you get back. She will nap in there and be content. Please only consider positive reinforced redirection and training as this bulldog is not going to put up with old school punishment. If that's your way, don't even apply. She needs firm, structured, redirection with a positive finish for behavior issues like bouncing off people, or being too mouthy and rough with play. Missy will likely be too rough for cats, small and elderly dogs, and need to be in a home with only one other dog as energetic, and large as herself or a one and only.
Missy is an affectionate, loving girl who was first in a hoarding house, then sold to an amish backyard breeder who admitted playing rough with her and allowing bad behavior. He didn't care as long as she made him money by producing litter after litter of puppies. She gave him 6 good litters and then he was done with her and called me to retire her into a pet home.
If you feel you are that home, please send an inquiry and I will email you an application. Always remember to chk spam folder if you send and do not receive an application. I reply to every inquiry with an application to adopt. I hope I can help you find ypur new best friend.
