Missy's Story

𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣!! 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗬 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨!
𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬! 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝟮-𝘆𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘆 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆.

Seattle Area ONLY - This gorgeous girl is Missy — petite in build but a big-hearted pup with a huge love for her favorite ball and an even bigger capacity to love the people she trusts. Once you're in her circle, you're in for life. She’ll be your loyal shadow, nub wagging a mile a minute, always ready for a game of fetch or a cozy nap nearby. She’s the kind of dog who will make you say “oh my god look how CUTE she is!” 100 times a day.

Missy wasn’t set up to succeed early on and is still learning that the world—and new people—aren’t so scary. She is unsure of new people at first and takes a little time to warm up, but when she does she's affectionate and snuggly - her superpower is her strong desire to engage with and connect with people. Walks, car rides, and vet appointments where she encounters new people and stimuli are her biggest hurdles, but she’s a smart girl and has been VERY responsive to gentle, gradual, consistent training. She's making huge strides every day with the help of supportive medication and an amazing foster home and she's learning how to become a whole, confident dog.

Missy needs:
• Patient owner
• Experienced training
• No kids

Ideal match: Quiet home in Seattle area only! A calm, well socialized male dog of similar size could be a plus for Missy, but no cats is best.

Apply to adopt this sweetie https://forms.spdrdogs.org/Adoption/
or send us a message if you can foster!
Washington State – no interstate transports.

Here’s a major perk to Missy: Because she’s been with a dedicated foster family since March who’ve been working on her training, we have both a ton of information on her AND have built a fantastic support network. We essentially have the whole Missy handbook plus three established petsitters, a vet who knows how to work with her, an amazing trainer, and her foster family who are available as a resource. *To ensure her adoptive home's success, we need to keep these available to her, and are only considering adoptive families in the Seattle Area, as far north as Edmonds/Lynnwood.*

Missy is crate-trained and settles in well at night. She sees her crate as a safe space, and we’re working hard to keep it a positive place for her. During the day, she can do up to about 5 hours comfortably.

Did we mention she’s ball-obsessed? She carries her favorite yellow ball everywhere. She loves it so much it’s even been used as a reward in training.
She’s great at self-entertaining and in a quiet environment is very low-maintenance during the day, especially if she has her ball.

Once she loves you she makes you feel like the most important person in the world. She gets so excited to see you that she lets out a joyful little whistle — she basically melts into a huge baby. Her happiness is contagious.

One thing Missy does not love? Nail trims. But this clever girl learned how to use a scratch board instead — and it works like a charm!

Missy’s Ideal Home:
• Adults only (no young children)
• No cats or female dogs
• Might do well with a calm, respectful male dog who has great social skills
• Patient, experienced owner committed to continued training and slow, positive introductions

Missy isn’t a plug-and-play dog, but she is a dog worth fighting for. She has so much love to give and just needs someone who sees the amazing girl she’s becoming. With consistency, love, and patience, Missy will be the most loyal, goofy, ball-carrying best friend you could ever ask for. Her foster family has seriously considered adopting her, but are undecided on whether they want to grow their own family, and they know young children might not be a fit for her.

If you think you might be the person Missy’s been waiting for, send us a message! She’s ready to meet her match — on her terms, and in her time.

Apply to adopt this sweetie https://forms.spdrdogs.org/Adoption/

Washington State – no interstate transports.
