Missy's Story
AGE: 1 Year

SEX: Female

BREED: Northern Mix

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

DOG FRIENDLY: Yep!

CAT FRIENDLY?: Yep!

KID FRIENDLY?: Yep!

FOSTER IG: @pawprintscrapbook

Meet Missy! Missy is a playful, affectionate girl with plenty of personality. She is especially bouncy in the mornings and when her people come home from work, when she loves to jump for treats, chew on things, and soak up attention. She absolutely adores being pet and cuddled and will paw at your face, jump onto your back, and happily squeeze herself into any available space beside you. She is fairly confident and loves exploring on her own, but she also listens well when redirected or recalled away from something. Missy loves cheese and peanut butter, and a frozen peanut butter-and-kibble puzzle kept her happily occupied for over an hour!
Missy is comfortable in her urban environment and is not bothered by traffic, sirens, construction, bikes, or scooters. She even sleeps through most city noise when she's resting in her crate or dog bed. She regularly sees children on the street and will often try to sniff or greet them. When people approach calmly, Missy is friendly and curious, but she can be reactive if a stranger approaches too quickly or seems hesitant around her. She initially barked at guests arriving at her apartment, but settled after sniffing and greeting them and then accepted their presence easily. Outside the home, guests approaching her family can be more challenging, so slow introductions and a confident handler who can help her feel secure are important.
Missy can also be reactive toward other dogs, particularly smaller dogs or dogs that bark or lunge first. She may bark and pull toward them, but can be redirected with her name and some leash guidance. She has a very strong interest in squirrels and will want to chase them, so continued leash training is important. Otherwise, she walks nicely at the end of the leash without pulling, loves to sniff, and frequently looks back to make sure her person is keeping up. She is working on consistent sit, down, wait, and leave it, and is a generally quiet dog aside from alert barking at people passing or approaching the apartment door. Missy is a cuddly, goofy, confident girl who loves exploring, playing, and being close to her people, and she'll thrive with a family who can continue helping her navigate new people and dogs with patience and consistency.

Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Missy?
