Mirabelle's Story

Meet Mirabelle!
Female
2 years old
Spayed

aka “Bellie,” “Smelly Belly,” and occasionally “Miss Piggy” thanks to her adorable little snorts. This sweet, silly, and confident girl is full of personality and love. She’s the kind of dog who keeps you laughing all day and then curls up directly on top of you for the best snuggles at night.

Mirabelle is a bold, curious, and independent pup with a very high energy level, so she’ll thrive in a home that can keep her active and engaged. Once she gets her zoomies out, though, she turns into the ultimate cuddle bug and certified stage-five clinger. She absolutely loves toys — especially fluffy and squeaky ones — and she’s also a big fan of bones and chew toys.

She’s made amazing progress with house training! Like many dogs adjusting to a new environment, she had some accidents during her first couple of weeks in foster care, but she hasn’t had any since. She’s also improving a lot with crate training and is learning that her crate can be a safe, happy place.

Mirabelle is smart and eager to learn, though she definitely has a stubborn streak that keeps things entertaining. She already knows “sit” and “stay,” and she’s currently working on “off” and “leave it” — especially because this girl thinks literally everything belongs in her mouth. Birdseed? Delicious. Hangers? Snack. Your food? Obviously hers. She’ll need a family committed to continuing her training and helping her make good choices.

She seems to do well with other dogs, especially after slower introductions. Mirabelle likes to be the boss, so she’d do best with dogs who don’t mind her taking charge. She and her foster sibling have become best friends! She hasn’t been tested with cats yet.

Mirabelle hasn’t spent much time around kids, but she’s such a loving girl that she’d likely do well with respectful children. She can get mouthy when excited and likes to nibble ears and toes, so continued training will be important.
She’s not overly barky, though she will alert you when people are nearby. She walks okay on a leash but can pull when excited. One thing’s for sure: this brave little girl isn’t scared of much — not even the vacuum cleaner!

If you’re looking for a dog who is sweet, clumsy, spunky, stubborn, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining, Mirabelle might just be your perfect match. She’s got a huge heart, a goofy personality, and so much love to give.

Interested in adopting? Submit an adoption application on our website rescuedrascalsil.org!

We will review your application at our earliest convenience. If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. From there, we’d schedule a meet and greet with the dog to make sure it is a great fit for adoption for the whole family and any other dogs in your home.

Questions about adoption?
