Minnie

Minnie is a special girl who was originally rescued from Bahrain! She is currently being fostered in Pittsburgh, PA but transport is available to an approved adopter from amazing volunteers. Minnie is 6 years old, 43 lb, spayed female<br/>Microchipped, UTD on vaccines, & on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventative<br/><br/>Here is what her foster family says about her:<br/>💚 Okay with men/women<br/>💚 Good with other dogs<br/>💚 Has successfully lived with cats previously<br/><br/>❗️Minnie will require a confident, friendly canine sibling as she follows the lead of other dogs well. She is nervous girl at first and shy. Because of this she would be best in a home with older children since loud sudden noises may scare her.<br/><br/>- Housetrained & crate-trained; does not need to be crated when left alone but may use a crate as a safe space in the beginning.<br/><br/>- Takes a while to warm up to touch from strangers. She was very touch averse when she came to me and would bolt away. I can now reliably touch her and she will seek out affection from me, including snuggling up to me in bed or on the couch. She loves having her chin scratched! She will now allow new people to pet her on their first meeting if there is a familiar, social dog modeling that behavior for her. She will very gently put a paw on you to request pets.<br/><br/>- Neutral/Friendly with other dogs. She doesn't appreciate dogs who are pushy or rude and will correct them appropriately. Calm, confident dogs are her favorite and she will follow their lead when she's unsure. She has started playing chase games with my dogs recently which they love because she is very fast! She doesn't wrestle.<br/><br/>- Has successfully lived with indoor cats. She has started showing prey drive outside as she's gotten more confident.<br/><br/>- Likes to steal soft toys and collect them but doesn't really play with them much. Loves personal play with me where she will come up and grumble, I'll wiggle my fingers at her, she'll play bow and bounce around then come back and repeat. We did a lot of this type of play to build her confidence with me!<br/><br/>- Walks very well on leash. Rides well in the car (she's only ridden crated with me). Will now take food rewards from me in a variety of environments. We've just started generalizing her sit cue. She knows her name.<br/><br/>- Minnie comes to the vet with me anytime any of the dogs have an appt for the exposure and that has made her appts much easier for her. She was able to recently update her vaccines and be poked for a blood draw with minimal stress and she recovered within minutes. Nail care is a struggle for her; she does best on a grooming table. I was also able to give her a good bath recently by going slowly!<br/><br/>- Minnie was phobic of sudden / loud noises when she arrived. This has improved significantly and she will now typically just flinch and recover instead of panicking. She will come over to stay near me if it's a new environment. I've taken her with me to places like the car shop, my Malinois' bitework training, etc. so she'd be around unexpected noise to help her get more comfortable.
