Minnie's Story
Meet Minnie, the 17-pound shadow who is ready to steal your heart and your lap. At just nine months old, this Rat Terrier mix is the perfect blend of puppy curiosity and "old soul" snuggles. She is the ultimate work-from-home partner, happy to nap quietly through Zoom calls as long as she’s nearby.

Minnie’s true superpower is her affection. She is a world-class snuggler who follows her foster sister everywhere, often falling asleep with her head rested gently on the other dog's back. While she’s a sensitive soul who can be shy with new people or "scary" objects like brooms, she is incredibly gentle and knows her "sit" command. She is nearly house-trained on a regular schedule and is currently mastering her crate training, where she already enjoys all her meals.

In the house, Minnie is a low-mischief roommate who prefers a chew-bone over trouble. She’s respectful of cats and does great with older kids. She hasn't been around younger kids at this time. On the leash, she can be a bit vocal—mostly because she’s following the lead of her foster siblings—but she is small and easy to redirect. She isn't a high-energy yard runner; she prefers two steady walks a day and plenty of couch time.

Minnie is looking for a family that appreciates a "velcro dog." Whether she’s alerting you to a package delivery or curling up on your lap for the evening, she just wants to be part of the team. If you have a spot on your sofa and a heart for a loyal companion, Minnie is ready to fill it.

If you’d like to be considered to adopt, the first step in the process is to submit an application through our website: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/. Our adoption fee is $250 per dog over the age of 6 months and $300 per dog 6 months or younger. We accept payment by Venmo, PayPal, or card.

This includes: basic vet care (i.e. basic vaccinations, including boosters completed after adoption, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea preventatives, and treatment for any health needs while in our care), a microchip, a week’s worth of food for the trial-period, and a harness lead.

All in state applications will be considered with some preference given to more local applications. WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS FOR DOGS SIX MONTHS OR YOUNGER.

We do not have a facility and operate through a network of foster homes. Thus, we do not have a phone number. If you’d like to discuss potential adoptions, please email at adopt@athenscaninerescue.com.
