Minnie's Story

Meet Minnie 💛

Dogs: Well- Matched
Kids: Unknown
Cats; Well- Matched

This sweet senior “Heinz 57” girl is looking for a soft place to land. Minnie came to us after her beloved owner suffered a stroke and could no longer care for her. Sadly, this isn’t her first time in a shelter—but we’re determined to make sure it’s her last.

Minnie previously found a home through the SPCA’s Drives for Lives program after being brought in as a stray from up country. She’s spent the last few years in a loving home, and now, at approximately 9 years old, she finds herself searching once again for someone to love her through her golden years.

Minnie is the definition of a gentle soul. She’s quiet, kind, and simply enjoys companionship and comfort. She tends to be fairly indifferent to other dogs—she doesn’t seek out play or engagement, but she’s also not bothered by them. Because of her calm nature, we think she could potentially live in a home with a cat. While we don’t have a history of Minnie with children, we would consider a home with respectful kids given her gentle temperament.

Minnie is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas.

As a senior lady, Minnie does have a few medical needs. She has some food sensitivities and is on a special diet, and she is being treated for hypothyroidism and is on pain management. We’re happy to discuss her monthly care costs with any potential adopters—what she needs in care, she gives back tenfold in love.

Minnie’s adoption fee is $250 + tax.

If you have a soft spot for a sweet, deserving senior and want to give Minnie the loving home she truly deserves, please fill out an application below. Let’s make sure her next chapter is her best one yet 💕

Application: https://www.newwestcity.ca/database/files/library/NWAS_Dog_Adoption_Application_2020.pdf

Petfinder Bio: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/minnie-5318a030-8d80-4c63-8469-86d3adc6b760/bc/new-westminster/new-westminster-animal-shelter-bc105/details/

New Westminster Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form. This is the FIRST step in the adoption process. Please do NOT email us just to express interest. https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
