Minka will guarantee your success! This young German Shorthaired Pointer mix is a bounding ball of life, always ready to play fetch, run around outside, or try to squeeze herself into your lap.

Minka has been diagnosed with Wobbler Syndrome, a neurological problem affecting the spinal cord. In the case of Minka, her back legs have a funny gait and she can lose her balance easily when she gets excited. She should always be walked on a harness instead of just her collar. Minka is not a fan of stairs – she needs a little help going up them and refuses to go down (but is happy to be carried down). While in her foster home, Minka will continue to be evaluated to make sure she is in no pain and to set up a protocol for managing her syndrome.

But Minka is not letting her diagnosis get to her! She is a high-energy dog always ready to go out for a walk or a spin in the backyard. Minka's favorite toys are anything ball-shaped – she loves to make balls bounce by pawing at them on the ground. But when it's time to take a break, she wants to snuggle right up with her people. Minka is fearful at first and will bark until she knows everything is safe. She is quick to warm up to people – especially if she's looking for someone to toss a ball for her.

Minka is looking for a family who can give her the support she needs to continue to thrive. She loves routine and attention, and she will need some time to settle in and be comfortable. Minka will return all attention and love threefold – take some time to meet this girl and see it for yourself!

Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
