Minerva's Story
Are you looking for a second dog? Minerva is your gal! She wants to go to a home with another playful dog and live happily ever after.

Minerva is a 3-year-old dog with a remarkable story of resilience. She was adopted once, but heartbreakingly, she was abandoned at a kill shelter before coming into my care as a foster. Despite everything she’s been through, Minerva is the sweetest, friendliest, and most deserving dog you could ever meet. She’s a little shy and gentle with people, but when she’s with other dogs, her playful and energetic side shines through. Her favorite thing in the world is running around the park and playing fetch.

Recently, Minerva broke her toe simply by doing what she loves most—running around the park. While a tiny toe might not sound like a big deal, it’s turned her world upside down. Now, this energetic young dog has to be on bedrest for three months, and her whole leg is wrapped up in a splint and bandages. It’s heartbreaking to see her unable to play and run, but we’re doing everything we can to help her heal.

Super sweet Minerva is fostered by a Dogwalker and she absolutely loves the company of other dogs. She is probably a Doberman/Belgian Shepherd mix. She weighs 57 pounds. She is friendly with both humans and dogs. No cat or kid experience. Minerva is submissive and sensitive. She has taken some time to warm up to her foster human but a few months in she has made remarkable progress and loves to cuddle. Minerva is very affectionate with the dogs in the home. She is a very popular playmate in the dogwalking pack.

Minerva loves fetch and enjoys the park as much as a hike. Going to the beach is her favorite thing! She has a great recall and goes off leash even on sidewalks in the neighborhood. This is a very well behaved dog so she is used to a lot of freedom when out walking.

Minerva was found as a puppy running down the street with her litter mates. They were brought to the shelter and Minerva was so scared she went into "shut down-mode" and ended up on the euthanasia list. Minerva was luckily rescued and put in fostercare for a year until she was eventually adopted but sadly abandoned once again at a kill shelter. Luckily she got rescued again and she is now awaiting her forever home.

Minerva is a high energy dog, She is currently getting 2.5-3 hours of exercise every day. She is trained on an e-collar because she was pulling on the leash in the beginning of transitioning into her foster home. Minerva is now well behaved and has been successfully trained. She needs to go to an experienced owner.

Minerva is graceful and smart and very kind. She is ready to go home!
