Mindy's Story

Mindy (aka "Miss Mindy")<br/><br/>Meet Mindy, a curious, expressive, and gentle six-year-old Chihuahua who weighs ten pounds! She's low energy and a bit of both people-oriented and independent. Her best feature is how expressive she is. She has uneven ears that make an "L" shape, plus little eyebrows that make it look like she has a lot to say!<br/><br/>Mindy adapts quickly. Within hours of arriving in NYC, she handled a car ride, a bath, and meeting four other dogs and took it all in stride. She's great with other dogs of any size, relaxed around guests, and warms up to new people at her own pace. She's potty trained outside or on pads, an excellent walker on a leash, and a pro on stairs. She settles quickly when left alone, with no barking or crying.<br/><br/>Her days are cozy: burrowing under the covers, scenic walks, and lounging on the couch keeping you company. She loves treats, wet food, and dried banana chips. She has even taken the bus and train into the city to spend the day at work with her foster!<br/><br/>Mindy would do best in a calm home with adults or older kids, with a steady routine. She's a great apartment dog and a wonderful match for a single person looking for a mellow companion.<br/><br/>**What her foster says about her:**<br/>"She loves to cuddle and sleep next to you and will make herself the perfect blanket nest by burrowing down under the covers. Mindy isn't high maintenance, so a casual lifestyle would be perfect for her and her person."<br/><br/>**INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?**<br/>To adopt apply on our website [www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt](https://www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt) and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.<br/><br/>PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.<br/><br/>Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
