MIMOSA - LOCAL (New Westminster)'s Story
Hiya! My name is MIMOSA and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Lab mix
Age: Approx. 3 years
Gender: Female
Weight: 35 lbs (16 kg)
Length (nose to butt): 76 cm
Height (paws to top of head): 66 cm
Original Location: Mexico City
Current Location: New Westminster, BC!

RESCUE STORY - My siblings and I were rescued off the streets of Mexico around one month old, my Rescuer thinks we were born there! What scary place for us wee pups! We were found with severe malnutrition and anemia, in pretty sad shape. You can learn more about my heartbreaking rescue by watching this video. I'm so thankful we were rescued and transported to the doggy shelter, where we're now safe and in tip-top shape!

Some more puppy videos of me can be seen here, here, and here.

Somehow, I have been overlooked for almost three years now! I so desperately want the opportunity to find my forever home; I promise to repay you with loads of cuddles, kisses and tail wags!

MARCH 2026 Update: I'm in Canada, folks!! I got the chance to fly to Vancouver on March 9th and so far I'm the sweetest gal, eager for treats and affection! I'm understandably a bit confused about my whereabouts (and this cold weather is WILD!), but after I've had some time to settle in to my foster home, I'd love to meet some potential adoption applicants!!

TEMPERAMENT - My rescuer says I have matured out of the "teenage phase" of doghood and am now officially a calm and sweet young adult, perfect for family life. I adore affection from hoomans and can't wait for all the belly rubs and snuggles from a family of my very own! I have a healthy amount of energy, ideal for a daily walkie or two followed by some cuddle and snooze time. I am so eager for love and affection. I love to play with my fellow pups and hoomans, and also looove to cuddle, show and receive affection (check out these videos: video, video2). I'm looking for a forever family, to play with and love on, of my very own! I am looking for hoomans who are open to working with some timiditiy as I adjust to my new life. With time, patience, and lots of love, I absolutely know I will show my true colours and be the bestest addition to your family!

Me and my siblings lived at a foster home in the countryside in Mexico. I got to go on walks where it is nice and quiet, so when I occasionally went into the city or busier neighbourhoods, I could be a bit timid/skittish. I'm now living in a busier area in New Westminster, so my fosters will be working with me and my confidence around city life! If I'm adopted by hoomans who live in the city, I'll just need some extra patience and love while I desensitize to the loud noises of city life.

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - classic young dogg-o energy with a touch of chill. I play hard but I crash hard too! Literall perfect adventure companion with the right amount of snooze and cuddle! Being the silly girl that I am, I've been known to rip up cloth rope toys and sometimes blankets. I'm learning better manners with my foster, but nonetheless, my adopter will need to be patient with me when adding more structure into my day-to-day life!

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Yes, I do well playing with kiddos. Here's are videos of me greeting children: video, video2, video3, video4
Dogs – Yes, I love my puppy family! Check us out in this video! Here's a video of me being a good girl around both hoomans and doggos, and here are videos of me playing at the dog park! Video, video2, video3, video4
Cats – Unknown. No exposure to cats just yet!

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Work in progress. I've been working on my leash skills with my foster, and I'm getting pretty good! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Check out video and video 2 to see how I'm doing so far! And one more of me greeting a dog on a leash!
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed and up to date on my shots! I came to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I was tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer.
