Mimi's Story

Mimi and Day are the sweetest and most special bonded pair of Schnauzers. Mimi is Day’s mama, and it’s absolutely adorable how much Day looks to his mom for guidance in everything.

This beautiful duo has a dark past filled with neglect and abuse. Thankfully, their owner eventually did the right thing by letting them go. But, as we all know, dogs are loyal to a fault—and these two missed their former owner deeply, which is heartbreaking.

Mimi is about 2 years old and weighs around 30 lbs. She’s your classic cheerleader mascot pup—the life of the party and a total flirt! She’ll make anyone fall in love with her within two seconds of meeting her. Between her constantly wagging tail and her gentle kisses, she’s pure love and always eager to please.

Her baby boy, Day, is about 1 year old and also weighs around 30 lbs. He likely endured the worst of their past and is more shy and cautious by nature. He’ll often hide behind Mom, watching to see what she thinks about everything—whether it’s a new toy, another dog, or a human. Day waits for Mom’s approval to know it’s safe. Mimi, for all her happy-go-lucky energy, keeps close tabs on him and makes sure he’s okay at all times. Once Day realizes you’re safe, he becomes the mushiest, happiest love bug—maybe even more affectionate than Mimi (if that’s possible!).

They are both potty-trained, non-destructive when left alone, cat-friendly, dog-friendly, and incredibly affectionate. They had never been walked on leash before coming into rescue—their prior life was spent confined to a tiny studio apartment with little to no outdoor time. Because of that, they’ll need some gentle guidance learning how to walk politely and understand what a “walk” means.

They love to play with each other and with other dogs. They’re currently living with dogs and cats and are wonderfully respectful of all different personalities.

Their ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and understanding—someone who wants to show them the world and what it truly means to be treated with kindness and care.

Both are up to date on vaccines, fixed, and have a clean bill of health. We really want them to stay together because they love each other so much but above all we want them to find loving homes.

For any inquiries about this sweet duo, please text Claire @ 323-636-9330.
