Milo's Story
Always wanted to get involved in Rescue? To save a life? Need a dose of rewarding in your life? Here's your chance to volunteer with an exceptional group @ Rosemarie's Rescue Ranch and LITERALLY save a life by fostering. Milo really should have been named Goofy, per his foster. He has a lot of personality and is fun and furry and a little goofball. Wish we had this on video, but foster says he sometimes literally dances in the yard when he is especially excited to go out!! Having come from a very uncertain background like many shelter pups, Milo is a bit nervous, especially when first meeting someone. He lets you know by hiding or separate himself until he is comfortable. He doesn't like to be touched until he completely trusts you and it may take a minute, so new people need to take it slow when initially meeting him and let him decide. No aggression or anger, just nerves. Milo's foster is also a behaviorist, and feels that will minimize as he gets settled in and gets into a routine. Routine is very important in helping Milo acclimate, so he will need someone who can set boundaries and patterns and stick to them. He's great with a routine, and great with commands - he is a smart boy and good with learning commands. He is good on a leash and good at following, but doesn't like when the leash touches him - we think he needs to get used to it. He's excited when dogs or people come by though, and will bark and may pull until you tell him no, and then he's fine. Milo is up to date on his shots, vaccinated and completely crate trained with no accidents. He will be best with older kids only - the little ones are to unpredictable and rowdy for him. We wouldn't call him dog "friendly" - more likedog disinterested - he much more interested in people. He's had no exposure to cats.Milo would be great with a senior or empty-nester who is comfortable training dogs and understands his need for structure and can accommodate. With someone who has patience and time to build structure, Milo will thrive. He has tons of love and is ready for his forever home now. Our wonderful Foster to Adopt Option is a great way to experience adding a new family member, without making a lifetime commitment first. No pressure, no second thoughts, just enjoy your time together and see if the chemistry is right and it's a fit for your family. Minimum commitment of 2 weeks needed.
