Milo's Story
ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://forms.gle/VXVLBHxTJpfas9Ut5

- Neutral with most other dogs, neutral with cats (somewhat avoids them)
- Fine with kids but would do best in a home without them
- Fearful of strangers but your friend once you give him treats

Full bio:

Milo was rescued by the Putnam SPCA after being starved, neglected and dumped by his former owner. Milo was brought to us for intensive care and rehabilitation and after graduating from training he is ready for his forever home. Milo has gained 23 pounds since his intake exam only 4 months ago but sadly, some aspects of his neglect and abuse are more permanent. There is damage to his trachea that causes a chronic cough when he is excited or exerts himself too much which was most likely due to being tied up inappropriately for prolonged periods of time. Thankfully, he's on medication to help manage his cough and he doesn’t let it slow him down.

At his core, Milo is a goofball and absolute lovebug with the people he trusts, but it takes some time to get there and he definitely has his chosen people. Milo lives for car rides (even if it’s just a lap around the block), belly rubs, and couch potato cuddle sessions. Fair warning: he thinks he is the size of a yorkie and will leave you with "Milo bruises" from trying to fold his entire body into your lap...all 60 pounds of him.

Milo is definitely a work in progress. After being in a foster home while receiving 8 weeks of formal training, he made incredible strides, but being back in a shelter environment has been hard on him. He can be fear-reactive with strangers and needs a slow, thoughtful introduction to new people which is understandable given his past. He doesn’t have the best manners though...his version of asking for more attention is nibbling at your sleeves or pant legs like a needy toddler, and while it’s annoying it is also weirdly endearing if you’re one of the chosen people.

Because of Milo's tendencies to jump when excited and need for routine, it would be best for him to be in a home without small children and have an owner who is no stranger to training maintenance.

Milo thrives in a home with structure and patient humans who can give him the stability he’s been missing. In return, you'll get an endlessly entertaining, and deeply loving companion that will always want to be by your side, or on your lap.
