Milo's Story

Meet Milo, the inspiration behind Rock Bottom Rescue.

We found him on a hike in April when we were vacationing in Puerto Rico. Emaciated and covered in scars, his sad eyes were begging for help. An amazing group of individuals pulled together to help get him medical care for heartworm and ringworm as well as a temporary home with a foster.

He arrived in Connecticut on May 16. Despite likely being used as a bait dog in dog fighting (according to multiple sources), he is the sweetest, most gentle dog you could imagine. We are still working with him to get him housebroken and to teach him not to panic inside open areas in the house, but he has come a long way in such a short period of time. His silly Boxer personality is coming out. He loves to "bat" with his giant pays and to play with our other foster puppies. He has even learned how to cuddle. He is approx. 2.5 years old and approx. 67 pounds.

Milo's adoption process will be a bit of a labor of love. We would not recommend him for first time dog owners. He is sweet, affectionate, loyal and looking for his BFF. However, having spent his life to date (before being rescued) being tied up to a chain outside and likely thrown into dog fights as a "bait dog" (incredibly he is not aggressive), he will need a patient, compassionate family that can help teach him manners and housebreak him. That said, he is very eager to please and just wants to love and be loved. He still needs to finish his round of heartworm injections, however, Rock Bottom Rescue will cover that expense.

For more videos/photos of Milo, please visit https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16MWF7cFZ3/.

For more information about Milo, please email secondchances@rockbottomrescue.org.
