I come with a big history and a bigger heart!<br/><br/>Milo initially came to the ABR in late December ’21 just before his 1st birthday. His initial owner had big plans to train and hunt Milo that never fully developed. During his 1st year Milo spent a lot of time in the kennel due to his owner’s work situation. He also bounced around for a bit while the owner figured out what he wanted to do with Milo. This was a big detriment to Milo as the first few months of a dog’s life really set the tone for the rest of their life.<br/><br/><br/>We (Foster Family) were only going to foster Milo but given his age, pedigree and some initial training, decided to see how far we could take his hunt training. Since then, I (Foster Dad) have spent the past 3 years working with Milo to become a fully-fledged hunter. We’ve come a LONG way over the past 3 season training and hunting Ruffed Grouse, but we haven’t been able to put it all together. <br/><br/><br/>Milo has a unique personality; he’s always anxiously trying to anticipate what his next command will be. He can be easily excitable and very vocal in telling you just how excited he is! At his core though he is a soft dog that wants to please. Milo doesn’t have any issue with other dogs or kids of any age. Because of his excitability though, younger or smaller kids, might get bumped around by him, especially if they aren’t used to dogs with his energy level. Milo loves being in the middle of the action and can get serious FOMO if he can’t join in. He’ll fetch as the days is long too. Loves to run and really stretch those legs. Milo would fit in well with an active family. He’ll play all day and cuddle up to you on the couch next to you in the evening.<br/><br/>Milo knows his obedience commands (here, sit, stay, place) very well. He’ll also walk at heel on a leash. He’s e-collar trained due to his hunt training. He has great remote recall, and we rarely had him on leash. He’s had the run of the house for most of his time with us though he is crate trained. He’s very food motivated and will occasionally grab food of an unattended plate. However, Milo does need a strong owner that will enforce commands as he is always trying to do things his way. Give him an inch and he’ll take the whole mile. He’s always testing you to see what you’ll let him get away with.
