Millie's Story

2.12.26 PUPDATE (written by current foster)

Millie is a 6 1/2 year old boxer lab mix with a full tail. She came from a family life and had lived indoors. She likes attention and neck scratches. She may have a torn ACL on her back right leg but has been using it a little with pain medication in place. She has a sweet personality and could be a great only dog. With our boxer, Ester, she likes following Ester’s lead but needed a couple of gentle reminders of her place in the pack. She does well with the commands sit and come when food is involved. . We have tried out a couple of different leashes on her and she stays close on yard walks. We haven’t tried any actual walks around the block due to her leg.
She will need rehab for her leg withborc without surgery. We're waiting to hear back fromthe surgeon on her options.

INTAKE 1.26.26 (written by previous owner)
This is Miss Millie. A 6 1/2 year old Boxer, Lab mixed breed that was born on June 5, 2019. She is a very shy girl who takes a couple of visits to warm up to new people in places but she is super sweet and loves attention. She has always done well with other animals and children. Millie is not aggressive but tends to get very excited and a little jealous, letting you know vocally by crying and whining that she sees others getting the attention that she wants. She is also a bit protective over her food dish. Overall, Millie is a very good girl who just needs some extra love and care due to an injury of a major tendon in her back leg. She had always lived in a home with a fenced in yard so had not had much exposure to being on a leash or outside of her own territory, making her leash skills and listening to command skills not very good but she is super smart so could learn these skills easily. We just hope Millie finds the right home that can take care of her like she deserves. 2/20/26 9:43 PM

Minnesota Boxer Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process: 1. Completing an Adoption Application - Click here for why this is important! We screen potential adopters very carefully in order to find the best possible match for both you and our foster dogs. All adoptions are expected to be lifetime commitments! You must be at least 21 years of age to apply for adoption. We require that you complete the entire application including the contact name/ phone number of veterinarian, and 2 non-related personal references with email addresses and phone numbers. If your application is not complete, it will not be processed. MN Boxer Rescue does not usually place female Boxers in homes with other female Boxers or bully breeds. To have two female boxers live happily ever after takes the right personality and temperament between the two dogs. If you have questions about this policy, please email our Adoption Coordinator directly at adopt@minnesotaboxerrescue.onmicrosoft.com A fenced yard is required to adopt a deaf or blind dog. 2. Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check All pets in your home MUST be up to date on all vaccinations, receive heartworm preventive, and MUST be spayed/neutered. Once your references are checked, a volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit. 3. Home Visit The purpose of the home visit is to inspect the surroundings in which our foster dogs will live, meet all household family members, address any major concerns, and get to know you better. (We are not at your home to pass judgment on your housekeeping skills.) 4. Adoption Fee Our adoption fee is based on the age and health of our dogs. The fee can range from $200.00 - $500.00. We will not negotiate adoption fees. This is not a "sale" but a fee that enables us to continue to help more Boxers in the future. Our adoption fee is non-refundable and applicable MN sales tax will be added at the time of adoption Your adoption fee covers: • Physical veterinarian exam •Neuter/Spay •Rabies •DHLPP •Heartworm Test and preventative meds (first round) •Fecal Test and any necessary worming •Bordetella •Microchip implant and registration •Any other treatment deemed necessary by our vet As you can see, our adoption fee covers numerous expenses.
