Millie's Story

Meet Millie, ARPH #14446! Millie was very much loved but sadly came to us due to her owner's terminal illness. She is a seven year old spayed black tri(turning eight in January), up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. She loves all humans, greeting everyone with a wiggle, just looking for attention and petting. She is a velcro Aussie, wanting to be with her person(or at least in sight), and will be underfoot wherever that person might be. Millie is VERY food motivated as evidenced by her weigh in of 92 pounds at her vet visit! Less intake and more exercise will continue her weight loss program from a max of 106 at the end of April in her former home, although she'll be on the larger side even at a good weight. Inside that bulky body, though, is a dog that wants very much to be frisky and active. She LOVES going for walks and does nicely on leash. A fenced yard is preferred, but homes without them will be considered on an individual basis.
She's not a fan of the crate and doesn't really need one, but she will go in for treats. Millie has excellent house manners and will let you know if she needs to go out. She has opinions and will sometimes vocalize them, especially if she wants treats. Given her size, it's not easy, but she will sit and down for the right treats. She does alert bark when someone comes or she hears a car go by; no one will sneak up on you with her around!
Millie is fine with cats and lives with two in her foster home. She lived with other dogs in her previous home and with one now, but she can be bossy and prefers not to share toys, although she's not obsessed with them. She won't be placed with another female, but she could be okay with the right male.
Millie's dream home would be with someone who is home most of the time, enjoys long walks, will give her a couch or chair where she can be comfy, and who will love her for the rest of her life. She will be a lovely companion and will be totally devoted to her person or persons.
Millie is fostered near Honesdale, PA. If you are already approved, contact Kay at bluedawg7@gmail.com. If you are not already approved, please fill out an application for adoption from our website at www.aussierescue.org All interested parties MUST submit an application.

Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline Inc's Adoption Policy
Anyone wishing to adopt a dog through ARPH must first complete an Adoption Application. When the adoption application is complete it is forwarded to the ARPH Rescue Representative closest to you. That representative will review the application, call all references, discuss parts of your answers with you, and may ask for a home check during the application approval process. ARPH looks for homes with a past history of responsible dog ownership which includes annual vetting of all pets. After you have completed the application and submitted it, please be patient--it may be several days to a few weeks before you hear back from a representative. Most ARPH Volunteers have jobs during the day, as well as families and their own dogs to tend to in the evenings. This is a labor of love for us all, and we work very hard to respond as quickly as possible to potential adopters. We do NOT ship dogs to adopters.
