Miller's Story

ID 61343814

Meet Miller. This appx 8 yr old guy came to the shelter neutered, microchipped, and was waiting for someone to claim him, but no one came in. It took Miller some time to feel comfortable getting out of his kennel, and realize that the shelter is now his temporary home until he finds a new place to call his own. He is ready to put the past behind him, and embrace all the years he still has, with a new person that he can enjoy life with.

Miller likes to go for his daily walk. He has also shown that he likes to be in charge of his direction, and where he wants to sniff. Even thought he is embarking on his senior years, he can still learn a thing or two when it comes to leash manners. He can have an aloof demeanor but has also shown his affectionate side the more he gets out and engages with volunteers. He does know how to sit, has engaged more with receiving treats, and will surely love more once in a home setting.
We do feel that this older lad would prefer a quieter home environment over the hustle and bustle of a busy household. It might take him time to acclimate again once out of the shelter but he would absolutely prefer getting out of the chaos of shelter life.

Miller has met some other shelter dogs in the yard and has shown that lower energy dogs are better for him, or, ones that will allow time to just cohabitate.
Older dogs are just like people, their social circle can get smaller, or, they become a bit more picky on who they spend time with.

If you can give Miller a place to call his own as he embraces his senior years, come on down and meet him, he is more than happy to pack his things, walk out of the shelter and never turn back.
