Milky Way's Story
Why Choose Me?

From Milky Way's foster mom-
"Milky Way is a very well-mannered, lovable and handsome little guy! He is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and loves people! He has been in foster since November 2025 and has been thriving and adapted very well to home life. He is a cuddle bug, people person, great-for-anyone kind of dog.

He is equally content sleeping all day as he is for an adventure. He travels very well in the car and has accompanied us on many long rides and new places. Most of the time, he is snoozing away at home while we are gone full time during the week, and does well being crated or left out. He has tested well with some smaller, submissive dogs and can be on a meet-and-greet basis. He has also been around kids between 4-10 and has done well with respectful children.

He is such an adaptable dog and has come pre-loaded with some cool tricks! He spends most of his time sleeping, but he loves being wherever his favorite people are. He would go to his new home with all of his favorite toys he has acquired through his time in foster to help in his adjustment. His foster parent is willing to meet and greet with anyone/their pets who are interested in him or wanting to meet!"

Doggy-Days-Out: "Milky Way, a recent young adult stray, made trips out of the shelter last weekend. First up was the Marigold Market on Saturday, where he was initially uneasy with all the people, dogs, and activity, However, he soon settled and had a great time making new friends. One of his favorites was Boomer, who is also at the shelter.
Sunday we were on to the UGA Rescue Paws Fall Festival on the West Lawn of the Tate Center. Milky Way was more relaxed than the prior day and had another good showing. He's a really nice dog and companion."

Mily Way is a handsome, good-natured boy. He had fun running with his canine neighbor at the fence and was friendly to other dogs we passed in other interaction pens. He likes treats and knows how to sit for them. He also likes pets in between socializing with his neighbors. He's a good boy who never meets a stranger!

You can read more about this dog and check out additional photos here: https://www.accgov.com/9482/Dogs

The adoption fees, shelter schedule, a description of the rescue and adoption process, and a list of included vetting can be found at https://athenspets.net/adoption-rescue-process.

This dog is available for adoption through Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, located at 125 Buddy Christian Way, Athens, GA.
