MILIKI's Story

Miliki (ID 716915) is so scared. This tiny 7-year-old Chihuahua was transferred to us from an overcrowded shelter and it’s clear the shelter environment is completely overwhelming him. We can’t help but wonder what his life was like before this. Miliki visibly shakes out of fear and loud noises startle him. He seems so unsure of everything around him. But when someone sits quietly with him, pets him gently, and plays calming music, he slowly starts to calm down. This fellow is just a gentle old soul. He loves curling up on a bench beside you, and we have a feeling he would be happiest snuggled on a couch watching TV with someone who makes him feel safe. He wants comfort so badly. Despite how nervous he is, he enjoys affection and leans into gentle pets once he realizes you mean no harm. We truly believe that in a calm, loving home, Miliki’s personality will slowly start to shine through. Miliki tested positive for heartworm and will be treated by the shelter's vet team. And and we also have him on supplements to help support his joints. He deserves a quiet home where he never has to feel this afraid again. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. To adopt, please complete a pre-adoption application on our website and then stop by. Questions? Call 954-989-3977 after 11 AM.
