Miles 163403’s FAQs

What is Portage County Dog Warden Shelter’s adoption process?

The adoption fees are at $97 which includes a  Portage County license. All adult dogs will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They will also be heartworm tested, vaccinated against Parvo/Distemper, given kennel cough vaccine, given general dewormer and have a 1 year rabies vaccine. All dogs adopted from PCDW are microchipped (fees included in adoption). Puppies old enough will receive vaccines and will be spayed and neutered, as well as microchipped prior to adoption. We require all potential adopters to bring all family members as well as other dogs in the home to meet and greet at the shelter facility. The PCDW has an outside fenced area that facilitates dog introductions in a low stress environment. If looking to adopt a pit bull or pit bull mix please contact our shelter (330) 297-6924. We do facilitate pit bull adoptions at our shelter. Kennel hours are: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM                                Sat  9:00AM - NOON.                                   We are closed Sunday & Major Holidays.
