Miko's Story

Updated 3Aug25

**Meet Miko!**

*Background Story*

Miko entered the foster system in July 2022, and he's been on quite the journey ever since! Team Memphis Rescue & Support pulled Miko from a heartbreaking situation where he was an owner surrender in a cruelty case. He had been starved and injured after being hit by a car, with his front right leg broken and radial nerve damage that required amputation and months of rehabilitation. Fast forward to June 2023-Miko found a kind family up north who adopted him. Unfortunately, after just a couple of weeks, it wasn't meant to be, and he was returned to our care. Since then, he has been in a loving foster home where he is thriving, and his current foster home is 100% committed to him. He deserves a forever family.

*Lady Lover*
Miko has developed a distinct preference for the ladies-he's not a fan of men, and he's made this abundantly clear! If you're a man, you might want to take notes: Miko will give you the cold shoulder faster than you can say "treat time. However, he has warmed up to his foster dad over time, showing that with patience and love, he can learn to trust. Despite this progress, it's still evident that he is uncomfortable due to his past trauma. So if you're in a female-only household, Miko might just consider you his new best friend. Just bring the snacks (though he's not particularly treat motivated), and you'll be golden!

*History with Kids*
Though he has been in a foster home without children currently, Miko previously lived with kids and loved their playful energy. He's great with other dogs, playful, and filled with love. He enjoys running around, taking naps, and soaking up all the affection he can get.

*Car Rides & Adventures*
Saying Miko loves car rides is an understatement-this boy sometimes doesn't want to get out! He'll give you those sad puppy eyes when it's time to leave the vehicle, as if to say, Why would you ever want to leave this cozy adventure? Once he's inside, he's like the co-pilot of the year, ready to enjoy the ride with the wind in his fur! His foster family is helping him step out of his comfort zone, but they've learned that he prefers short walks-after all, he's got places to be and naps to take!

*Living His Best Life*
Being a tripaw hasn't slowed Miko down one bit! While he may be cautious during playtime, it's important to approach it with patience and positivity, helping him understand that fun is what it's all about. He's looking for a family that can appreciate his laid-back couch potato vibes while also getting him out for some outdoor fun. Whether you're binge-watching your favorite shows or enjoying outdoor activities, Miko is ready to be your loyal sidekick!

*Personality Traits*
Miko is a playful spirit who has enough energy to power a small city, though he knows how to balance that with his inner couch potato. He's independent and can entertain himself, especially when there are comfy spots to lounge in. When it comes to comfort, Miko has a knack for claiming the coziest spots in the house as his throne. He loves giving occasional kisses, which truly makes you feel special and ensures you know how much he cares. The only time he gets a bit slobbery is when he drinks a gallon of water after a walk! He will shower you with affection, ensuring that you feel loved every day. And let's not forget his intelligence-Miko is eager to learn new tricks, proving that he's not just a pretty face but a smart companion who's ready to impress!

*Bring Miko Home!*
We are determined to find Miko a forever home where he can thrive and be the happy, loving dog he was always meant to be!

If you're looking for a resilient, funny, and utterly charming companion who's ready to fill your life with joy and laughter, Miko is your guy! He's excited to find a family that appreciates his journey and is ready to create a lifetime of hilarious memories together-preferably in a female-only household. Don't let this tripaw superhero fly away-adopt Miko today!

Team Memphis Rescue & Support's Adoption Policy
Adoption Process The first step towards adopting a Team Memphis Rescue pup is completing the adoption application! The application gives us background information necessary to select the best fit family for each dog and vise versa. ! We take our job very seriously and want to do everything possible to ensure each and every dog will be with his adopted family for life. We suggest submitting an application describing the type of dog you are looking for even if you don’t see that particular dog on our adopt a pet page. Not every dog is posted. Also, there are hundreds of homeless dogs in this area so the pet you desire could possibly be found. We are all volunteers but try to process applications in 7 business days or less. You should receive a response that the application is being processed which means we are calling references, including the Veterinarian Clinic listed. Once your application is approved, a Team Memphis Representative will contact you for a brief phone interview, request a home inspection and set up date/time for a meet & greet. Adopters will also receive a call from the foster family if the pet is in a foster home. Foster families play a big part in a rescue dog's life. They provide valuable information to the adopter that helps the pet transition to a new home. If the pet appears to be the perfect fit, Team Memphis will provide a contract for signature and adopter pays the donation fee. Payments can be made through the PayPal, Venmo, checks or cash. Adoption fees are typically $300 and $200 for seniors (7 & up). The transport fee (approx $140/$150) for out of State adoptions is paid by the adopter after the reservation is made by Team Memphis Rescue. Team Memphis Adoption process: • You must be at least 21 years of age and be able to provide proof of age. • Any current pets must be spayed/neutered. They must also be up to date on annual exams, annual heartworm tests and annual vaccinations – along with consistent heartworm preventative. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided. The same applies for your past pets. • If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease. • All members of the family living in the home where the animal must agree on the adoption. • Home check will be required or video chat if out of state. • You must be able to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet. We are a volunteer based organization. We receive inquiries on dogs often and can not always respond. Please submit an adoption application if you are interested in one of our pets.
