Mike's Story
Mike is currently at the Douglas County Shelter
For more information please call 775-782-9061

Meet Mike!

If you’re looking for a dog with energy for days and a big personality meet Mike!
Mike is a German Wirehaired Pointer and Border Collie mix, just over a year old, and this boy is ready to GO! He’s smart, athletic, curious, and needs a home where he can burn off his energy while putting that busy brain to work.

Despite all that energy, Mike is a super friendly guy and a total sweet heart. He loves people, enjoys other dogs, and is crate trained. His biggest challenge? He gets so excited to see people that he tends to forget his manners and likes to greet them with all four feet off the ground!

Mike does have some herding instincts, which means he may try to help manage the household. Unfortunately, his idea of “helping” can include nipping at young children and trying to move them where he thinks they belong. Because of this, he would do best in a home without young children.

Mike is looking for someone who wants a dog they can exercise, train, challenge, and have fun with. Give him an outlet for all that energy and that brilliant brain, and you’ll have one incredibly fun companion.

Think you can keep up with Mike? He’s ready to meet you!

By the way, Mike is neutered, microchipped, and current on all shots -- all ready for a new home.

For more information, please call Douglas County Animal Services (DCAS) at 775-782-9061. Or come meet me at the Douglas County Animal Shelter (please call first to make sure I'm still at the shelter). Click on Douglas Animal Welfare Group below for the address and directions.

ALSO A "MEET AND GREET" WILL BE REQUIRED IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER DOGS IN THE HOUSEHOLD.

ONE LAST THING! If you rent, you will be required to provide written approval from your landlord that you can have a dog. It needs to be specific, i.e. all dogs okay, no big dogs, specific breeds restricted, etc.
