Miiko's Story
Miiko is a Shiba Inu!
From foster mom:
Miiko is 11 years, a spayed female 16.5 lbs. with no health issues other than occasional ear infections. She did lose her right rear leg. It has not resulted in her slowing down.
She's used to a very calm, quiet home and doesn't require walks or any major activity. I haven't seen her interested in any toys yet, she is very cat like. She is very anxious with any new environment so I think young kids would be too much for her. I worry about kids in general since she wants to escape, she's very fast and stubborn. She would do best with calm dogs or being the only dog. She doesn't have an interest in my cats so no concerns there.
She enjoys watching dog TV and just doing her own thing around the house. She only makes noise in her kennel when its time to potty.
I think her ideal home is with a senior(s) who understands not letting her escape. She's pretty low maintenance and the more I've seen her open up the more interaction she initiates.
For more info. about the breed: https://www.thesprucepets.com/shiba-inu-dog-breed-profile... and for more info. about caring for a three-legged dog: https://askavet.com/.../vet-approved-guide-adopting-a...
For more info about adopting Miiko, send a note to salemdogs@aol.com and tell us about yourself, family, home, yard, fence type and height, other pets, work situation, and a vet reference.
