Midnight 9's Story

Meet Midnight, a precocious, sweet and happy 1 year old petite female labrador. She began her life as part of a breeding operation which focused on breeding for small size, which is why she will only weigh about 45 pounds and about half the size of most American labs. She and her pack were rescued by a group of volunteers when it was discovered that the dogs were being neglected and Brookline was able to help them out by fostering several of these mini lab sweethearts to find their forever homes. She has spent 6 weeks in a Brookline foster home where she has blossomed into a joyful (and a bit mischievous) young lady who is now ready to find her forever family. Midnight has tackled housetraining, gained weight and been spayed so its time for her to bring her sweet loving personality to her new family!

Midnight is very much a puppy still so that comes with lots of energy, playfulness and some behaviors that need to be corrected like grabbing non-dog-toy items, using her mouth and teeth when she is playing or being pet, jumping on people and dogs, and some general puppy shenanigans. Her ideal family will have had some puppy raising experience or will have dealt with training challenges in the past. She is filled with energy to burn so a home where she can get lots of exercise, whether in the yard or on the leash (or both!) will be best. She can be the only dog in a home or can live with other dogs if those other pups are OK with her romping and appetite for high energy play. She has met some cats and behaved herself perfectly and has also showed us that she loves playing with kids.

Midnight loves being with her people and her doggie pals and when left alone in a crate she is not the happiest girl and barks and cries until they return to her. We hope that this separation anxiety is a temporary thing and that she can work out ways to relax in these situations, but for now that penchant for vocal barking means that she will be a better fit in a single-family home than in an apartment or a home that shares walls with neighbors who would not appreciate the noise.
All that said, Midnight is an absolutely adorable tiny lab who brings happiness, love and joy to every place and everyone she visits. She will be a wonderful addition to the right home and cannot wait to meet you!
