Sweet Micah — 10 months • 40 lbs • Looking for His Happily Ever After Micah is a tender-hearted, gentle soul who is finally coming out of his shell. He can be shy with new people, but once he feels safe, he is nothing but sweetness — truly couldn’t be mean if he tried! This sweet boy absolutely loves other dogs and lights up when he has a canine buddy to follow and learn from. He also doesn’t pay any attention to cats and does wonderfully with kids, making him such an easy fit for many homes. Micah walks beautifully on his leash, enjoys squeaky toys, settles nicely in his crate, and is mostly potty trained (just needs a little patience while learning a new routine). Long Road Home's Adoption Policy

Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
