Mica

Mica is an 8 year old dachshund. He weighs about 13.lbs. <br/><br/>Mica is a super sweet boy who suffered from IVDD. He required surgery to help remedy his hind end paralysis. He is also partially vision impaired but gets around great, as long as things aren't constantly moved around. <br/><br/>Mica is doing great after his surgery in March. He is walking well, still working on his strength to run again. He is house broken and does not need to have his bladder expressed. <br/><br/>Because Mica had a previous surgery for IVDD and is vision impaired, a one level home would be best for him. He cannot navigate stairs well due to his vision limitations. <br/><br/>Mica is food possessive with other dogs. Feeding separately is crucial if there are other dogs in the home. <br/><br/>He is good with 90% of the dogs he has met, but for some unknown reason, every now and then he instantly dislikes certain dogs. It seems to happen if the dog is white. This does not happen often, and he has been excellent with most of the dogs he has interacted with at the shelter. He also shares space with another small dog that he is totally fine with. He should not be with any dogs that are rambunctious for risk or re-injury. <br/><br/>Because of Mica's vision impairment, sneaking up on him can scare him and you should always let him know you are there. <br/><br/>Mica does not like children at all, and should not be interacting with any. <br/><br/>He is fine with cats. He is very affectionate once he knows you and trusts you and is an absolute love muffin!! He is such an awesome dog, who has been waiting WAY too long for a home of his own. <br/><br/> Please don't let his IVDD and Vision impairment deter you from applying to adopt him.
