****We are Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S) – Stephenville, TX - We are a small, foster based animal rescue, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, based out of Stephenville, TX. We work to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted cats and dogs in Stephenville and surrounding towns. We have recently expanded our scope to include Hamilton County, TX and are currently working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter. <br/> Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.)’s mission is to sponsor low cost spay/neuter and wellness exams, provide community education and provide food and supplies to those in need. We also do our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. Our animals are vaccinated and on preventatives. Perhaps Mia is the pup for you.<br/><br/>Meet Mia!<br/><br/>Mia was recently taken in by the Hamilton, TX Animal Control, because it was clear her owners were incapable of properly caring for her. She's now in the Hamilton Pound, which is no place for a young energetic dog like Mia.<br/><br/>Mia is a spayed, 8 months to a year old, ~30 lbs., Border Collie Mix. We think she might be mixed with retriever. She's very cute and loves people. She's good on leash and seems to want to play with other dogs. Mia is house trained. She's a Border Collie mix so has the genetically ingrained tendency to try to herd people by nipping at their heels. This is something she should be easily trained out of once she's out of the Pound and has room to run and play. Because she a Border Collie mix, she's a very smart dog and will likely learn commands or take to agility training very quickly. She'll require a fenced yard.<br/><br/>Mia is up to date on vaccines, rabies, Bordatella, and is heartworm negative. She's on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworms. We don't know how she is with cats, but she might do really well around livestock.
