Mia's Story

Welcome to the shelter, Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi, Princess of Genovia!
We're just kidding - at least, we don't think Mia is European royalty. We do know that she is for sure a queen in this shelter, though! Mia is a 5 year old spayed Lab/Hound mix. She was brought to us alongside her fur-sibling, Blaze, who has his own listing. These two were surrendered through no fault of their own, when unfortunate life circumstances led to their owner no longer being able to care for them. The pair do not have to be adopted together.
Mia is a sensitive soul, and she's feeling pretty stressed at the shelter. She has dealt with anxiety in the past over new places and loud noises, so this place can be overwhelming at first. She has never shown us any aggression, and quickly warms up once you sit with her and give her a moment to get to know you. We ask that you don't judge her based off of the loud bark you'll hear in the kennel, and that you take her out in our yard. Out there she is like a whole new dog!
Mia has lived with kids before and did well with them, but with her anxiety it would be best to supervise her around children until she gets used to them. She gets along well with her bro Blaze, but she will snip at him when he's getting too pushy. This is just her asserting her boundaries, and she doesn't try to fight him once he's backed off. She has not been around any cats before. As always, we recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption to make sure it is a good fit!
Mia has received her first round of vaccinations and is ready to be back in her own kingdom! If you think Mia could be the dog for you, come out and meet her today!
