Mia's Story

Hi, I'm Mia. I'm ready to find out what it feels like to have a furever home.

I'm a sweet 2-3 year-old girl, and my story didn't start out the way every dog deserves.

I was raised on the streets with an unhoused woman who cared for me, but unfortunately, circumstances became more difficult for both of us. I made it through those hard days—and now I'm hoping the next chapter of my story is the best one yet.

You see, I'm actually a pretty easygoing girl. I walk nicely on a leash, and I really want to please my people. Give me some love and attention, and I'll happily be your girl.

Here's what I love:

People and kids — I love making new friends!
Other dogs — I'm happy to have canine friends.
Going for walks — I'm an easy walking buddy!
Good pets and attention — Please don't stop!
My kennel/crate — I'm already crate trained.

I'm not sure yet how I feel about cats, so that's something we'll need to figure out.

I do have a tender side, too. Some loud noises can scare me, especially thunder and gunshots. When things get loud, I may need some reassurance from my person that I'm safe.

After everything I've been through, what I really want isn't complicated.

I want someone who will give me a safe place to sleep, a soft place to land, walks to explore, gentle hands to pet me, and a whole lot of love. And in return? I'll give you my heart.

And if you're not local, that's okay! I can be transported to another state, with transportation arranged by my rescue mom. My furever family could be anywhere!

I've spent enough time wondering what tomorrow will bring. I'm ready for a furever home. Could you be the person I've been waiting for? Memphis and Midsouth Animal Advocates's Adoption Policy
I am careful and conservative......lots of information gathering, several meetings at their home and at the rescue. I contact their Vet references if they have cared for animals before. Mandatory three training sessions that I attend with them and the pet if they have never had a pet before. We supervise the introductions of their current animals and their prospective pet. We provide aftercare followup and advice for the lifetime of their pet. We insist in the contract that the pet comes back to us immediately if they don't work in their adoptive family. Our dogs in the Midsouth need to be indoor dogs, no chains or tethers unless their person is outside with them, such as gardening in the front yard or camping.
