Meet Merlot, a tiny girl with a sweet name and an even sweeter personality.<br/><br/>At just 11 weeks old, Merlot has already had quite the journey. She and her siblings were found abandoned along Fourth Crossing Road, but this little girl is ready to trade her rough beginning for something much better: a family, a cozy bed, plenty of toys, and a lifetime of love.<br/><br/>Merlot is one of those puppies who has a way of quietly stealing your heart. She is sweet, curious, playful, and still figuring out this great big world one tiny adventure at a time. She may need a moment to check you out when you first meet, but once she decides you’re a friend, prepare yourself for puppy kisses, cuddles, and plenty of adorable antics.<br/><br/>As for what breed Merlot might be, she’s keeping that part of her story a bit of a mystery. Our best guess is Australian Cattle Dog mixed with German Wirehaired Pointer, but this litter has given us quite the variety. Whatever combination went into making Merlot, the end result is pretty darn cute.<br/><br/>Like any young puppy, Merlot is looking for a family ready for all the fun that comes with raising a puppy. She’ll need patience, positive training, socialization, consistency, and someone willing to teach her how to become the very best grown up dog she can be.<br/><br/>To give each puppy the chance to develop their own confidence and independence, Merlot and her siblings are being adopted into separate homes rather than being placed together.<br/><br/>Merlot may have been left on the side of a road, but that’s just where her story began. Now she’s waiting for the part where someone walks through our doors, falls completely in love with her, and says, “You’re coming home with me.”<br/><br/>Come meet Merlot and the rest of her adorable siblings Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Calaveras County Animal Services.<br/><br/>All puppies will be spayed or neutered before heading to their new homes.<br/><br/>We’ll continue introducing one puppy from this special litter each day, but Merlot would much rather be introduced to her forever family.
