Merle's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Merle! Merle was among several Dachshunds that were transferred to TDR. Merle, like the rest was very well cared for and is a pure-bred long-haired Dachshund.
At the senior age of 12 years old, Merle is very laid back and wise. He is comfortable with dogs of all ages and sizes. He is also not bothered by cats.

Being the mellow guy he is, he is also not phased at all by young humans and loves men and women equally.

Although not completely deaf, Merle is hard of hearing. That does not keep him from enjoying going outside with the other dog friends. He is sweet and laid back.

Merle does not have to be an only dog and does fine with others as long as he’s in a home that will give him plenty of attention.

At present, with other dogs in the home, he has shown that he is not food aggressive. Coming from a breeding environment, Merle is not house broken, but he is wise and you can teach an old dog new tricks. Given time, he will become house broken. In the meantime, he is comfortable wearing belly bands.

Merle had not been trained in commands. Again, he seems to be trainable. The bottom line is that Merle is a handsome specimen of a long hair Dachshund and will make someone a very close friend.

If you think this silver old lad is a good match for you, please apply today at www.tireddogrescue.org

Tired Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Tired Dog Rescue adoption fee includes all sets of vaccinations, heartworm test, fecal exam, spay/neuter and microchip. We also recommend that you research the breed that you want to adopt. Ask yourself....Can you afford the cost of a high maintenance dog such as a Cocker Spaniel or Shih-tzu etc? The grooming costs are about 50.00 every 6-8 weeks. Are you in a position to adopt a puppy which will require training? Can you afford the medical costs that might be involved in adopting a senior pup? We want every adoption to be for life so please think about what you can and what you are willing to do before considering each pet. If you are unsure please contact us and we can help answer any questions.
