Merle's Story

Say hello to Merle, a brave, curious, and playful 10-week-old mixed-breed pup whose breed is completely unknown, but whose personality is already shining through!

Merle is the most active and adventurous of his brothers. He loves to play, roughhouse, and get into puppy mischief, but he's also wonderfully brave and independent. He's often the first to leave the puppy pile and go investigate something new. While his brothers may stick together, Merle is perfectly happy venturing out to see what the world has to offer!

This little guy is toy-obsessed. His absolute favorite is a stuffed giraffe, but he also loves stuffed toys, rope toys, and playing a good game of tug. Like any teething puppy, he's also a big fan of his puppy teething rings.

Merle enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home, although he doesn't seek them out quite as much as his brothers. He has been around dogs ranging from an 80-pound Pitt/Rottie mix to an 11-pound Chiweenie and an 18-pound terrier mix and has done well with his foster siblings. He hasn't met any cats yet, but because he is so young, he may do well with a cat with appropriate introductions and supervision. Merle would likely be perfectly happy as an only pup or with a canine sibling.

At night, Merle sleeps in a crate with his two brothers. He's working on both crate training and house training, and he's still learning to make it through the night without accidents. Leash training hasn't started yet.

Merle is still a baby and, like all puppies his age, he's learning important lessons about sharing, manners, and being a good canine citizen. He has shown some early toy and food possessiveness with his brothers, including growling or nipping when they approach a favorite toy or the last food in the bowl. Nothing major, but its something his forever family will need to thoughtfully work on as he grows. Teaching him that sharing is safe, using positive reinforcement, and supervising around high-value items will be important parts of helping him become his best self.

His forever family should be prepared for all the normal puppy stuff—nipping, chewing, accidents, zoomies, and lots of learning! Merle will need patience, consistency, training, and plenty of love as he grows into the amazing companion he's destined to be.

If you're looking for an adventurous little guy who is playful, curious, toy-loving, and ready to explore the world, Merle may be your perfect match!

Apply online to meet Merle:
https://forms.gle/tYsG6dtzPAmjburi7

His adoption fee is $350 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, neuter and microchip.
