Mercury's Story

Meet Mercury

Mercury is a 3-year-old pit and rottweiler mix who came to the shelter as a stray. Although a microchip led us to his previous owner, he was never reclaimed. The shelter environment has been stressful for him, and he's still trying to figure out this big change in his life.

In his kennel, Mercury can be quite vocal, likely expressing his stress and uncertainty. Once out, staff have observed that he is very strong on leash and will pull, so he'll need an adopter who is prepared to work with him on leash manners and provide consistent training.

Mercury allows all handling but tends to be hesitant and somewhat aloof, often keeping to himself rather than seeking out attention. The busy shelter setting seems to make him anxious, so he may do much better once he's able to decompress in a calm, stable home.

With patience, structure, and time to adjust, Mercury has the potential to settle in and show more of his true personality. He would benefit from an adopter who understands that some dogs need a little extra space and reassurance while they learn to feel safe again.

If you're willing to give a quiet, independent dog the chance to relax and find his footing, Mercury may be the companion you've been looking for.
