MERCURY Pit Bull Terrier Mix Bronx, NY

Mercury was brought to the NYC Animal Care Centers as an owner surrender in June 2019. His owner didn't give any information but just dropped him off. Due to overcrowding at the shelter, he was slated for Euthanasia. Pound Hounds was able to save his life due to a foster stepping up.

That foster however wanted to be a hero for a day because two weeks later she said she didn't want to foster him any longer and since we didn't have anyone for him, he went to boarding. He's been in boarding ever since.

WE REALLY NEED TO GET HIM OUT AS HE IS DETERORITING IN BOARDING.

Good with dogs with proper introductions. He can be dominant. No small animals.
Kids over 16, please
UTD on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped.

At the boarding facility, he has gained the trust of some volunteers and they truly love him.

Mercury is a strong boy and will need a strong leader. He needs someone familiar with the breed and someone willing to work with him. He is a very high energy dog, so no couch potatoes for this lively gem.

Preferred forever home for your foster? A home that will give him attention & exercise. Mercury LOVES his people and loves to play. He can get a little mouthy, so he will need a guardian who will correct this behavior. He does have a bite history which we don't have any information on, but that can also be interpreted as his mouthiness however he has never shown any aggressiveness to anyone.

Merc gets excited going out as he loves to be outside with his person.

Mercury has been professionally evaluated and is a great dog. In the right home, he will flourish.

From his volunteer: He truly is stunning! He loves people, allows all handling including baths and being carried like a baby. He loves running, cuddling, and giving kisses. He could use a little bit of leash training, but he is so eager to please. Due to his size, we are looking for a home with no small kids or small pets. A dog his size could work, but of course, a meet and greet would be required. His ideal home will have pit experience, and appreciate how loving, loyal, silly, pitties can be.
