Mercedes aka Merci’

Meet Mercedes aka Merci who landed in foster care after her owner passed away. Not surprising that she was initially very shy and skittish, but that is slowly passing. She gets along well with her three foster siblings, is adjusting to the household routine, and is a high energy dog. Mercedes has a very happy attitude, comes when called, has naps in her foster dad’s lap, and likes to sleep on his recliner. Her connection to her foster mom was immediate and remains very strong. Housebreaking was iffy at first, but now doing well without accidents. She loves going for walks, and we’re working on other manners. Mercedes goes into her crate on command, has learned that is her place at feeding time, and is very trainable given her food drive.<br/><br/>Merci’s foster parents feel she would do best in a home with older children or a single owner and probably would love a doggie sibling or two! She has trimmed up a bit and is probably closer to 15 pounds now. She is still shy and will bark at strangers. She prefers women, but will warm up to men with lots of love and reassurance. Merci’ has a bossy side too! That’s just her “Doxietude” coming out! She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and goes there on her own during the day to rest.
