The shelter is full, and lovely Melody needs a foster home or forever home as soon as possible, so please visit her at the shelter to see if she could become part of your family. She is just 1-2 years old and 55 pounds. She's been patiently waiting in the shelter since March 24th, and is clearly starting to become depressed from lack of love and attention. Her adoption fee has been reduced to just $25 and that includes spay, microchip, and vaccinations! WOW! <br/><br/>A note from Melody:<br/>Hi friend! I'm SWEET Melody. I am so sweet that I even got to spend a few nights in a foster home and now we can tell potential adopters more about me and my manners! Actually, my foster family truly, truly (and I mean TRULY) wanted to adopt me, but their apartment sadly had breed restrictions. After lots of tears from them (and me!), I'm back in the shelter and need to be rescued. <br/><br/>I am HOUSETRAINED with FANTASTIC indoor manners! I am calm inside and am even fine staying at home for 8 hours or so while you are at work. I am VERY QUIET - not a barker at all. Yay! I love children. I am super snuggly, affectionate, and think I am a big lap dog. I like to play with toys, but can be a good calm girl too and I sit quietly in my kennel during the day. I even tested well with CATS! WOW! I do well with other dogs around and meet dogs nicely and happily with my tail wagging on walks or at the park (see my video!), but I might be happiest as your one and only dog so I can be spoiled with all the treats and toys myself. Oh, and I already passed my behavior test at the shelter too. <br/><br/>I already know how to sit for treats, and the best part is that I seem to be pretty smart, attentive, and eager to learn all kinds of new things. My "smarts" might come in handy if you adopt me, because I am eligible for Sister's Fund!!! YIPPEE!! Sister's Fund is a training scholarship fund for predominantly black dogs since black dogs are usually overlooked. If you choose to adopt me, this fund allows you to receive $75 towards the cost of a training class or one free training class, whichever is less. Since I'm such a smart girl, we will have so much fun showing off to all the other dogs in a training class together! Can't wait for that! I am in the dog adoption area, but please ask for me if you cannot find me. <br/><br/>People keep saying that I have the most gorgeous, adorable face they've ever seen, and that my big beautiful eyes will capture your heart. Well, I hope that what they say is true because I sure do need you now more than ever. You see, I am a black pit bull terrier mix, and we are always the last to be chosen in the shelters. They say its because we don't have all those bright colors like the other dogs, so it is easy for adopters to overlook us in our kennels. But it would be so sad if no one ever even comes to visit me.
