I am Melody, an approximately 3-year-old l, 45lb Belgian Malinois, and I am looking for a family who understands that... well... the world obviously revolves around me.<br/><br/>I came from a high-kill shelter, but I am leaving my past behind and focusing on what really matters—finding my forever people to shower with love, hugs, and the occasional dramatic conversation. Yep, I am a vocal girl! I will happily let you know when it is time to play, cuddle, or simply admire me.<br/><br/>Here is what you should know about me:<br/><br/>- I am house-trained because I am a lady.<br/>- I have my own soft crate that I willingly nap in with the door open, of course. It is my little sanctuary.<br/>- Rope toys are LIFE. Seriously... bring ropes.<br/>- Treats? Meh. Tell me I am the prettiest, smartest girl ever and I will work twice as hard. Praise is my love language!<br/>- Belly rubs and big hugs are my favorite way to relax.<br/><br/>I am smart, like... really smart, but I do have a tiny stubborn streak. I will learn what you teach me... just after I have considered whether your idea is better than mine.<br/><br/>Because I am a Belgian Malinois, I need an active family who will give me plenty of exercise, adventures, and things to do. I can get anxious sometimes because life has not always been kind to me. When I am feeling overwhelmed, I may gently mouth to communicate my stress, so I need patient people who understand dogs and will help me feel safe. A belly rub, a reassuring hug, and knowing I am loved go a long way.<br/><br/>A few things about my dream home:<br/><br/>- Adults ages 17 and older who can confidently guide me, keep me on track, and remind me that not every decision should be made by me.<br/> - No young kids, please! I am a herding dog, so I naturally want to herd little humans... and sometimes I forget how strong I am.<br/>- I can live with other dogs, but I would not mind being your one and only. More hugs for me!<br/>- Cats, bunnies, chickens, and other small or outdoor pets are not my thing. I have a high prey drive, and I would rather not have the temptation.<br/><br/>I am being fostered in Sand Lake, Michigan, and I will come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.<br/><br/>I am not looking for perfection.
