Mella's Story

AVAILABLE NOW

Mella is thought to be around 2 years old. Mella, Martin, Lilly, Maggie, Axle and Petey were brought into the shelter as Humane Holds. They are now available and looking for great homes. We know that all are good with cats and super sweet. Mella currently weighs 49 pounds. She has been spayed and is up to date on shots.

Mella is lucky in that she is currently in a foster home and doing rather well. Fosters are so important.
FOSTER REPORT: "Mella is a people dog, she's a big hugger and it's full body wiggles of joy when she's greeting a person she loves.
Loves walks and is pretty easy on a leash, although she will pull some when the other dogs run past her. She's been good with everyone here from the seniors to the pups. She's housetrained, sleeps in a bedroom all night perfectly. She will stay in a crate without a peep but a couple times she's pooped right away when I put her in there. Both times were times after she'd just came inside from walks/yard time so I'm sure it's behavior related more than she has to go especially when you combine that with with not having one accident in the house, other than when she was put in the crate. She has stayed in a crate a few times now without pooping with a chew bone. Trying to work on reinforcing the crate is not bad.
Her hair is growing back in. She really is a good girl."

Meeting dogs is by appointment only. Please call the shelter (740/593-5415) to make an appointment. All adopters must bring in kids and other dogs in the household for a meet and greet before adoption.

Adoption fees are $125 ($65 for dogs 7 years old and older) and include dog license, basic vaccinations, heartworm test on adult dogs, and spay or neuter (ARRIVED 5/9/26)
