MEL's Story
MEL
3 years old 12 pounds Shy little Chihuahua-Pug mix with a worried face and a tender heart (READ BIO!)
Mel is a petite 3-year-old Chihuahua-Pug mix who might just take your breath away with his big, soulful eyes and permanently concerned little expression. At just 12 pounds, hes small in size but he is a dog who needs the world to move gently around him.
In the right environment, Mel is incredibly sweet and deeply affectionate. Once he feels safe, he becomes a soft little shadow, happy to curl up in your lap, soak up warmth in a sunny spot, and tuck himself into the coziest bed he can find. Those moments of trust are where he truly shines.
Mel is looking for a very specific kind of home, quiet, adult-only, and experienced with fearful or insecure dogs. He needs someone who understands that trust is built slowly and that pressure or rushed handling will set him back.
He is not comfortable with children and does best in a calm, predictable environment with minimal chaos or stimulation. He also requires a thoughtful, slow approach to handling and interactions, as he can become defensive when he feels overwhelmed or cornered. It is important that his adopter understands that even though he is cute and small, he can bite if he is pushed past his comfort zone.
What Mel needs most is patience, structure, and kindness without expectation. In the right hands, he has the potential to form a deep, loyal bond, but it will be on his timeline, not ours.
Mel is not a quick win kind of dog. He is a quiet, careful heart who needs someone willing to go slow and earn every bit of trust.
