Meeko's Story

Meet Meeko: A Gentle Soul Looking for Love
Meeko is a handsome 6-year-old beige, short-haired Chihuahua with a heart that's well worth the wait. While he can be a little slower to warm up to new people and situations, once Meeko feels safe and comfortable, his affectionate and loving personality truly shines. He absolutely adores being held, enjoys going for walks, and never says no to a car ride adventure.
Meeko takes comfort in having his best friend Lily by his side. Their bond helps him feel confident and secure, and together they make the perfect little team. He is used to sharing his home with other small dogs and does well around them, though large dogs can be a bit intimidating for this little guy.
Meeko is looking for a patient adopter who understands that the best relationships take time to build. Once you've earned his trust, you'll have a loyal companion who loves nothing more than cuddling close and enjoying life's simple pleasures. Because Meeko and Lily are deeply bonded, they are seeking a forever home together."We're so excited you're interested in adopting a new furry friend! To help us find the perfect match for you and our animals, we're pre-approving applicants.

Here's how it works:

Please start by filling out our adoption application: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rz1556&method=online_form_html&formid=6
This helps us learn more about you, including which animal you're interested in, your family, any other pets you have, your living situation (owning or renting), and your veterinarian.
We understand that if you don't currently have pets, you won't have a vet reference. In that case, we kindly ask for a personal reference instead.
Why we ask these questions:
We want to make sure we find the best possible fit for both you and the animal.
For renters, we need to confirm with your landlord that pets are allowed, as unfortunately, many landlords in Franklin County have restrictions.
Checking with your veterinarian helps us ensure that our animals receive the ongoing medical care they deserve.
What happens next:
Once we receive positive references from your landlord (if applicable) and veterinarian (or personal reference), we'll contact you to schedule an appointment if you're interested in adopting a dog.
If you're looking for a feline friend, you're welcome to come in anytime during our open hours!
Important information:
Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date your application is approved.
We're truly grateful for the overwhelming interest in our animals! Our staff is working diligently to approve applications as quickly as possible. While it may take a few days, most applications are approved sooner.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to find loving homes for our wonderful animals!"
