McKinzie's Story

Golden Update! We love it when we get detailed updates from our foster parents. Here's one from McKenzie's foster mom ?

McKinzie is a 4 year old tiny little golden girl and is very sweet with other dogs. Since her arrival (with Mystic and mom Marigold) from a puppy mill, McKinzie "Mac" has transitioned into life inside the home seamlessly. She has become an extremely confident dog and is genuinely interested in both people and other dogs. Mac is not frightened by the activity of the people around her or the different noises around her (she even follows her foster mom while sweeping). She never misses the opportunity to gently tap you with her paw to signal you to pet her. She plays well with the other dog in the home and also engages her foster family in play. Following cues from the other dog in the home, Mac plays with dog toys, chases squirrels, and also quietly lays on the floor napping. Mac is a fast learner and walks well on a leash, responds to commands like heel and sit, and, is almost housebroken. She stays in a gated area when her family is not home and is able to go without a potty break for several hours at a time. She enjoys walks, trips to the store, and eagerly meets new people.

Mac is the perfect addition to a family who is looking for a smaller dog with a friendly temperament and moderate activity level. We would like McKinzie to have a physical fenced yard with another dog in her home so she can continue to learn.

McKenzie will be receiving her final shot October 1`7th and will be ready for adoption. If you are interested in getting approved to adopt a golden retriever, the first step is to please read "How to Adopt" at www.gr-rescue.org
