McCormack's Story

McCormack entered Riverside Shelter as an underweight injured stray, and sadly, no one came looking for him. Despite clearly having lived a tough life, shelter staff and volunteers described him as quiet, gentle dog who walks nicely on leash and gently accepts treats and handling. We learned just how special McCormack is after welcoming him as a Frosted Face on March 17th. He immediately earned the privilege of being a FFF lobbyist, which is our affectionate term for dogs not bothered at all by people or other dogs coming in and out of our lobby, who don't door dash and don't guard food or bed. In other words, McCormack is a gem!

Soon after McCormack's arrival, he went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about him in a home setting while he received much-needed extra TLC. Here's what we learned McCormack's foster mom:

McCormack is a sweet and friendly dog who enjoys making new friends. On walks, he approaches people to say hello and happily soaks up pets and attention. His gentle nature extends to food, whether it's how gently he takes treats or has no reaction when approached while eating or if his bowl is taken.

McCormack's routine on his fling included a morning walk and breakfast before his foster mom went to work. While home alone, he napped. After his foster mom returned, McCormack enjoyed a cuddle session, dinner, and an evening walk before going to bed around 8pm. He slept through the night on the bedroom floor.

McCormack was curious about the cat in his foster home, but after the cat swatted at him, McCormack maintained a respectful distance.

McCormack let his foster mom know he needed to go outside by pacing back and forth between her and the door. Blankets and towels were placed around the home on the wood floors to help him move around more easily. McCormack didn't attempt to get on furniture and didn't enjoy being picked up, so his foster mom would join him on the floor for cuddle time.

This unassuming, quiet, lovely boy craves and welcomes a soft voice, a soft touch, snuggles, sunshine and yummy chicken! Is there room in your heart and home for McCormack?

To meet McCormack, please email:
placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
