A perfect day for me includes going to a secure dog park and socializing with my dog friends. <br/><br/>I am ready to find my forever home where I can receive the love, stability and structure that I need and deserve. I am not comfortable being an only dog. If you're ready then please consider applying to adopt me, MIKA the mighty Mazzianti Evantra!<br/><br/>MY OPTIMAL ADOPTIVE HOME IS: <br/>Moderate to High Energy/Activity,<br/>Has a Canine Companion, and <br/>Has someone that is home mostly during the day or has an area that can be set up for me to stay in during a full work day with potty pads.<br/><br/>MY NEW PAWRENTS MUST BE:<br/>Okay with a dog that prefers canine companionship to human companionship,<br/>Is familiar with fearful behavior and/or has experience with dogs that have been abused/neglected in their past,<br/>Has time and patience to dedicate to continuing my social rehabilitation, and<br/>Has prior experience with raising an IG puppy.<br/><br/>MY NEW HOME MUST HAVE:<br/>Securely fenced in yard (not an available dog park in the area), Mika does have a hard time going potty on leash. He is timid and prefers a calm quiet area with no distractions/scares,<br/>Apartment Home/Condominiums are a maybe.<br/> <br/>I DO WELL WITH:<br/>Children, cats and other dogs both large and small. <br/> <br/>I prefer to SLEEP in: <br/>Both my dog bed and my humans bed.<br/><br/>LEASH WALKING: <br/>I am currently learning about being on a leash and will have this down in no time!<br/><br/>CRATE TRAINING:<br/>Please note that we teach crating as a 'safe happy personal space' where the IG can rest/sleep when confinement is necessary. Crates should NEVER be used as a punishment or 'time out' space. I consider the crate my safe space and don't mind being in there at all for reasonable amounts of time. If the door is left open, I will put myself inside to rest.<br/><br/>HOUSE TRAINING:<br/>As an IG parent you must be willing to commit to a structured and reasonable routine to keep your iggy from having excessive indoor accidents. Italian Greyhounds are known for housebreaking issues and most will have occasional accidents. Many come to us as surrenders due to excessive potty accidents indoors. This is typically the result of poor potty routines within the previous home so we do typically get them on track fairly quickly.
