Mayfly's Story
*****Please note, once you complete the initial screening, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks, and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time. We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.*****

Meet May, a sweet and incredibly smart 6-month-old Border Collie/Shepard mix weighing about 30lb. We expect her to be a medium sized dog when fully grown. May is the kind of puppy who makes everyone around her smile. She’s affectionate, playful, eager to please, and very tuned in to her people. She loves other dogs and is especially happy to chase, wrestle, and romp with canine friends. She has wonderful social skills for a puppy—she has good bite inhibition, listens when another dog says they’ve had enough, and is very respectful and submissive with adult dogs. She would absolutely love a home with a friendly, playful dog who can be her buddy. May also loves people and is friendly with strangers, especially when they get down to her level. She has been around children of many ages and should do well with kids.

May has a medium-high puppy energy level and thrives with a good balance of physical exercise, mental enrichment, and downtime. Two walks a day along with playtime, sniffing, chewing, and some training is a great fit for her. She’s surprisingly lovely on leash for her age, usually walking beside or slightly ahead of her person on a loose leash, and she’s currently very neutral when passing other dogs. She is crate trained, sleeps in her crate at night, and is comfortable being crated when her people leave. She’s also doggy-door trained and doing very well with house training. May is cat friendly, rides well in the car once she’s loaded up, and has no trouble with stairs. Like any young puppy, she still needs supervision and regular potty breaks, and she’s working on her enthusiastic puppy jumping when she gets especially excited around familiar people.

May was born in a shelter and was rescued at just two weeks old with her mom and seven siblings. Her foster family says she has always been one of the most balanced and confident puppies in her litter. She can be a little hesitant in loud or busy new environments, but she acclimates quickly with encouragement, treats, and a little patience. May would thrive with a loving, gentle, and structured family who enjoys positive-reinforcement training and wants to help her continue becoming the amazing adult dog she’s destined to be. She has so much potential—possibly even as a future Canine Good Citizen superstar or therapy-dog candidate! Most of all, May is simply a wonderful, sweet-natured puppy looking for a family who will love her, guide her, and have fun watching her grow.

If you are interested in adding this pup into your family, please fill out the adoption application below!

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog

**Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
