I tend to have separation anxiety. <br/> I LOVE car rides, agility courses and adventures on all terrains!<br/> I got along very well with a confident cat in a previous home<br/> I can be protective of my humans once I get attached. <br/>I weigh about 54 lbs<br/><br/>Some dogs need a little extra time.<br/>Maybelle needed a lot.<br/>When she first arrived at the shelter, she was overwhelmed by nearly everything. New people, unfamiliar places, everyday handling, even simply existing in a busy shelter environment—it was all too much. She hadnt been given the opportunity to learn that the world could be a safe place, and fear became the only way she knew how to navigate it.<br/>Over the months, Maybelle has become one of our greatest labor-of-love stories. Thanks to countless hours of patient training, gentle guidance, and people who refused to give up on her, shes transformed from a dog who was nearly impossible to handle into one who seeks out the people she trusts, enjoys walks and adventures, and lets her sweet, silly personality shine. Shes also on medication to help manage her anxiety, which has been an important part of helping her feel safe enough to keep making progress.<br/>But healing doesnt erase the past.<br/>Maybelle still finds a busy, unpredictable world overwhelming. Crowds, frequent visitors, bustling neighborhoods, and close encounters with unfamiliar dogs can be more than she can comfortably handle. She can be reactive on leash, especially when she feels trapped or pressured, so shell need someone who understands her body language and is committed to continuing the work shes already started.<br/>Her perfect home isnt one filled with constant activity. Its a quiet place with room to breathe—ideally in a rural or low-traffic setting where walks dont require weaving through people and dogs around every corner. Shed love a small circle of trusted humans, minimal visitors, and to be the only pet, where she can finally exhale instead of always wondering what unfamiliar thing is coming next.<br/>Maybelle isnt looking for perfection. Shes looking for peace.<br/>For someone willing to meet her where she is, shell offer something incredibly special. Every wag, every cuddle, every moment she chooses to lean into you instead of away from the world is a reminder of just how far shes come.
