Maya's Story

🐾 Meet Miss Maya 🐾

8 years young | Pug | 19 lbs | Senior Adoption Fee

Miss Maya is proof that the best things in life come with a little gray on their face and a whole lot of heart.

This sweet pug has been in our care for just a few weeks, and she has already mastered the art of being the most pleasant companion imaginable. Maya is not a lap dog. She prefers to be beside you, near you, or quietly supervising from the same room. She will happily follow her person from room to room like a tiny, snorty shadow.

Her energy level is best described as elite couch potato. Ten minutes of playtime a day is plenty. The rest of the time, Maya enjoys listening to her human talk, watching TV, and sleeping in front of a fireplace if one is available. Fireplace owners, this is your sign.

Maya is fully house trained, well behaved, and does not need a crate. She is not destructive and is perfectly content free roaming the home. On leash, she is an absolute delight. When she sees her leash, she gets excited, trots over, and politely sits so you can put it on.

Maya would like to be the only dog in the home and does not enjoy sharing her space with other dogs. Cats are unknown. Older kids would be fine, especially those who understand that Maya prefers calm companionship over chaos.
She is spayed and has received a full dental, is up to date on all vetting, and has no known medical or behavioral concerns.

Maya would be a wonderful match for seniors, homebodies, or people who work from home. She truly thrives when her people are around and does not want to be left alone for long stretches. A fenced yard is not required, but she would not complain if one existed.

Now for the important details.
Maya has the best floppy tongue.
She loves TV.
She prefers her own sleeping space and does not want to share your bed.
She snores.
She is excellent company.

If you are looking for an easy, affectionate, low-energy dog who just wants to exist peacefully near you, Miss Maya is your girl.

📩 Apply to adopt:
https://form.jotform.com/243494963032258

💛 What’s included in your adoption fee?
At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, we’re committed to ethical rescue and lifelong support. Meet-and-Greet: Approved applicants will be invited to meet the animal in person. If applicable, other household members and pets should also participate in this introduction. Adoption Fees: Adoption fees are required to help cover medical and care expenses. These fees are non-refundable and vary depending on the animal's age and medical history. Spay/Neuter Policy: All animals will be spayed or neutered before adoption. Exceptions will only be made for medical reasons, with a binding agreement to spay or neuter later. Follow-Up: The rescue may conduct follow-up visits or check-ins to ensure the animal is settling into its new home successfully. Right to Deny: The rescue reserves the right to deny any adoption application if it is determined the home is not a suitable fit for the animal's needs.
