URGENT! 10/14/2022 48 hours to live. Maxwell has been at the shelter since August and is slated for euthanasia.

Maxwell (A1166745) is a gorgeous 2-year-old blonde Husky and Shepherd mix with a sweet, gentle disposition and medium energy level. He was in a foster home but they returned him because their dog didn’t like him. He was not on the shelter’s website while he was in foster and has been back on the website for just one day; now the shelter plans to euthanize him.

Pet ID: A1166745

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services to find homes for high risk dogs at Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield, CA. The shelter has around 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to under-staffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County.

805-492-CAPS (2277)
caps@caps-web.org

CAPS can arrange transportation if you are on the West Coast and help you find transportation if you are in a state outside of this area.
